First of all I had to take the bug body and Samurai Body off of the frames.

I then had to lengthen the frame on the Samurai by 14.5 inches to make the wheel base long enough to fit under the VW in the correct spots.

There were a couple spots that we could cut the frame. Right behind the transfer case seemed like the most logical spot. Then a 14.5 inch piece of 4x2 steel tubing was welded in, with fish plates to add strength.
On the body I had to cut out some places to make it fit over the frame. The best place to start was under the hood.

At first I cut 4 inches back from the tire well, but then cut out a whole lot more.
Next the inner finder wells had to be trimmed.

Mounting the body to the frame was actually pretty easy because everything lined up very nicely. There were solid body parts close to all frame mounting locations to weld up some mounting pads. Then the body was mounted.
